Own vineyards
We have our own vineyards, divided into unique plots located at different altitudes and different orientations. The vineyards of Bodegas Federico, excellent by nature, are surrounded by the magical environment of the town of Pesquera de Duero, cradle of the Ribera del Duero.
The Secrets
The soil varies slightly depending on each plot, with soils of calcareous clay origin, not very fertile, without excess organic matter, where the vine struggles to survive and strives to get water. Slopes, rocks, slopes, slopes, microorganisms, clays, nutrients, minerals…, play a fundamental role providing aroma and thickness to the grape, becoming the soul of our wines.
Another secret of our vineyards is the climate of the area, ideal for the good development of the vines.
The climate is continental, harsh and extreme, combining long, cold winters, very dry summers, low rainfall and a wide temperature variation between day and night.
Our vines are the absolute protagonists, and are pampered throughout the year to ensure that the vines reach their full potential and thus extract the highest quality from each of their grapes. They are trellis-trained vineyards, with drip irrigation and the main variety of the Ribera del Duero D.O.: Tinta del País, Tinta Fina or Tempranillo.
